MOUNTAIN VILLAGE TRANSIT

In 2022, the Town of Mountain Village engaged KEO studioworks to launch a transit upgrade initiative: to reimagine and modernize the community’s network of transit stops. The goal was to create a more functional, welcoming, and visually cohesive transit experience meeting the evolving needs of residents, visitors, and the growing regional bus system. The transit stops are served by local Village transit, the San Miguel Authority Regional Transportation (SMART), and school buses at several key housing locations.
In 2024, the first transit stop near the village entrance was completed, strategically chosen to meet growing demand driven by nearby affordable housing and school bus routes. The new transit stop reflects a contemporary integration of form and function. The shelter itself is constructed from materials selected for their long-term durability and ability to harmonize with the contemporary mountain aesthetic that defines Mountain Village.
